Harita Nickel is committed to fostering community independence and well-being through various economic empowerment initiatives. By creating business opportunities and expanding access to economic development, we contribute to inclusive and sustainable growth.
1. Local Supplier Involvement
To support company operations, particularly food supplies for employee canteens, Harita Nickel partners with 65 local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). In 2024, these collaborations resulted in total transactions of IDR 150 billion.
2. Obi Jaya Mandiri
Obi Jaya Mandiri (Obi Snack) is a collaboration between Harita Nickel and women's groups on Obi Island to produce chips, chili sauce, and traditional regional snacks.
The program provides training in production and packaging, capital support, and marketing assistance to help these products reach a wider market. In 2024, it has empowered 23 women from the surrounding operational areas, generating a total turnover of IDR 108 million.
3. Hop Mart
HOP Mart is Harita Nickel's CSR initiative that empowers 16 women to manage minimarkets, providing daily necessities for employees. Beyond creating business opportunities, the program also offers support in legal compliance, financial management, and inventory control.
In 2024, HOP Mart recorded a turnover of IDR 2.9 billion, with a profit distribution (SHU) of IDR 194 million, contributing to the economic well-being of the local community.
4. Tahu Tempe Production (RUTE)
In 2024, RUTE successfully produced 140,183 pieces of tofu and 46,866 pieces of tempeh, generating a total turnover of IDR 580 million. The program engaged 10 active RUTE members, creating a significant positive impact on the local economy.
5. Project Rasa (Prosa)
Recognizing the demand for home-cooked meals among employees, Harita Nickel partnered with women's groups from the surrounding operational areas to establish a home cooking business. In 2024, PROSA achieved a total turnover of IDR 642 million, contributing to local economic empowerment.
6. ProPALA
Harita Nickel, in collaboration with local community groups, established the proPALA group to develop nutmeg-based products such as beverages, dodol, candy, and more. Beyond production, the program also provides marketing support to help expand market reach. Since its launch in November 2024, the proPALA group has recorded a total turnover of IDR 12 million by the end of the year.
7. Development of Village-Owned Enterprises
To tackle waste management challenges in villages surrounding its operational areas, Harita Nickel collaborates with Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) to implement effective and sustainable waste management solutions.
Household waste is collected and transported using the company’s dump trucks, while BUMDes oversees the management of waste retribution funds. To support this initiative, Harita Nickel provides financial bookkeeping assistance for business units. In 2024, BUMDes generated revenues of IDR 316 million, contributing to both environmental sustainability and local economic growth.
8. Baru Village of Food Independence (Kabar Mapan)
Harita Nickel collaborates with 24 members from three farmer groups to develop food crops and horticulture. The company provides mentoring, seeds, fertilizers, and market access to support their agricultural activities.
In 2024, this program successfully recorded a total turnover of IDR 276 million, contributing to local economic growth and sustainable farming practices.
9. Climate-Responsive Horticulture and Agribusiness Center (Obi Sehati)
Harita Nickel supports 70 farmers from villages near its operational areas in developing melon and watermelon plantations. Through this initiative, we connect farmers with company partner suppliers, ensuring that Obi Sehati Group's products are supplied to employee canteens.
By the end of 2024, Obi Sehati Group recorded a total turnover of IDR 1.06 billion, contributing to local agricultural growth and economic empowerment.
10. Agricultural Development in Fluk and Gambaru
Harita Nickel has developed a capacity-building program in the agricultural sector to support local farmers in Fluk Village and Gambaru Village. The program includes training in modern farming techniques, the use of organic fertilizers, and harvest management. Additionally, the company provides agricultural tools and high-quality seeds to enhance productivity.
In 2024, the farmer group in Gambaru Village successfully recorded a total turnover of IDR 58 million, contributing to local agricultural development and economic sustainability.
11. Obi Food Security Center (Sentani)
Harita Nickel supports rice farmer groups in villages near its operational areas by providing cultivation guidance, as well as facilities and infrastructure assistance. This initiative ensures that locally produced rice can be supplied to the company.
In 2024, the Sentani Group successfully recorded a total turnover of IDR 126 million, contributing to the growth of local agriculture and economic sustainability.
12. Progressive Farming & Livestock Model Initiation (Impresif)
Harita Nickel collaborates with 18 farmers in Jikotamo Village to develop horticultural commodities, including bitter melon, tomatoes, long beans, and kale. Additionally, the company supports a duck farming initiative, which has successfully hatched 130 ducks from 7 parent ducks, contributing to local agricultural and livestock development.
13. Fishermen's Fish Processing Center (Sutan)
Harita Nickel connects fishermen on Obi Island with the company’s catering vendor, ensuring that their catch is supplied to meet company needs. To support this initiative, we provide training in fish processing according to industry standards and financial management guidance, helping fishermen improve both quality and sustainability in their operations.
In 2024, the Sutan Group managed to earn a turnover of IDR 784 million.
Harita Nickel believes that strong communities are built on deep-rooted traditions. We actively support social and cultural initiatives, preserving local heritage through traditional arts, religious activities, and community programs.
