Towards Net Zero 2060

Menuju Net Zero 2060

Nickel products play a vital role in enabling low-emission transportation, making them an essential part of the solution for a cleaner future. Yet we believe that producing minerals for sustainability should never come at the expense of the planet’s well-being.

Our Efforts

Waste Heat Recovery

With this technology, Harita Nickel utilizes steam generated from nickel processing at PT HPL and repurposes it into energy. This technology contributed 73% of total emissions avoided by Harita Nickel in 2023.

Solar Photovoltaic Power

Harita Nickel utilizes three applications of Solar PV: street lighting, ground-mounted systems for Telco Towers, and rooftop installations on staff housing/mess. These initiatives generated 462 GJ of energy and avoiding 158 tCO2e GHG emission. Currently, we are deploying additional 40 MWp of rooftop solar panels, which are scheduled to be operational before end of 2025..

Coal Gas Utilization

Harita Nickel converts coal into syngas to enhance energy efficiency and lower CO2 emissions. This process has generated 14,129,194 GJ of energy, avoiding 935,901 tCO2e GHG emission. Coal gas utilization has also been integrated into the RKEF process to further improve energy efficiency.

Penggunaan Biosolar

Harita Nickel currently utilizes Biosolar for its power plant and operational vehicles, a fuel blend containing 35% bio-based content, an increase from the previous 30%. This process has generated 1,213,663 GJ of energy, avoiding 88,937 tCO2e GHG emission.

Used Cooking Oil Utilization

MSP repurposes used cooking oil in combustion furnaces to reduce coal consumption. This process has generated 1,545 GJ of energy, avoiding 1,419 tCO2e GHG emission.

Eletrcic Vehicle

HPL operates electric towing and forklift vehicles in the nickel sulfate warehouse to reduce emissions. This initiative has generated 191 GJ of renewable energy, avoiding 8 tCO2e GHG emission.
