Harita Nickel, through one of its subsidiaries, PT Jikodolong Megah Pertiwi (JMP), provided financial support for the construction of Darul Taqwa Mosque in New Village, Obi District, South Halmahera Regency.
The Rp 150 million donation was symbolically handed over by Andri Rudiarto, Community Relation Superintendent of Harita Nickel, to the Chairman of the Darul Taqwa Mosque Construction Committee, La Saaru Lantoroso, on Sunday, October 8, 2023.
Andri Rudiarto said the financial support for the construction of the mosque is part of the company's c<a href="https://tbpnickel.com/id/sustainability/human-rights/we-and-the-community" target="_blank">ommunity development and empowerment (PPM)</a> program in its operating area on Obi Island.&nbsp;
"At present, the PT Jikodolong Megah Pertiwi project is still in the exploration stage. Therefore, we ask for the support of all villagers so that the company's operations can run smoothly and continue to grow so that the company can also contribute more to the welfare of the local community," said Andri.
Harita Nickel's efforts were recognized by the local village government. The head of Baru village, through the village secretary, Anganria La Husen, expressed his gratitude for the company's support.&nbsp;
"We hope that this assistance can be useful to the residents and that the company can continue to pay attention to the surrounding community," said Anganria.
The same sentiment was expressed by the sub-district chief of Obi through the sub-district secretary, Risno Tjia. According to him, the company's commitment is exceptional.&nbsp;
"On behalf of the Obi sub-district government, we are very proud of the support provided by the company. Although the JMP project is still in the exploration stage, the company has actively reached out to local residents," he said.
For information, the Rp150 million financial assistance will be paid in three stages. Every month, the company will provide Rp50 million in assistance, with 50 percent in cash and 50 percent in construction materials.

Harita Nickel supports the construction of a mosque in New Village

Harita Nickel conducted entrepreneurship training for its sponsored business groups on Obi Island. This activity is conducted to enhance the competitiveness of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) for the realization of the economic independence of local communities.
A total of 33 participants, who are representatives of various groups sponsored by Harita Nickel, attended the two-day training on October 20-21, 2023. Participants learned about culinary business management, product packaging, and marketing strategies. They also received direct guidance from relevant agencies regarding licensing and business capital.
Evand Roos, Operations Director of Harita Nickel Younsel, said that entrepreneurship training for MSMEs is part of the Community Development and Empowerment (PPM) program. He hopes that the businesses run by the supported group will continue to grow and have a greater impact on the surrounding community.
"The key to successful entrepreneurship is to have a strong will, an indomitable spirit, and to keep innovating. Our role as mentors is to ensure that these supported MSMEs are on the right track," he said.
Broto Suwarso, Community Development Manager of Harita Nickel, explained that there are as many as seven sponsored groups in the developing category. This sponsored group consists of three business lines, namely food processing, agriculture, and fishery MSMEs.&nbsp;
He explained that the sponsored MSMEs have cooperated with four business units of Harita Nickel by becoming suppliers for employee canteens, providing mini-market and cafe services. The total monthly turnover has reached Rp 8 billion!&nbsp;
Broto also highlighted a number of challenges faced by MSME players. These include how to maintain production quality and continuity, how to provide fair access to capital, and how to break the chain of middlemen. As a result, the company continues to provide support and build the business management capacity of the MSMEs it supports.&nbsp;
Last month, Harita Nickel, through the Community&nbsp;Development&nbsp;team, conducted a mini-workshop on Pre Technical Guidance (Bimtek) and Household Industry Products (PIRT) at one of the UMKM production houses supported by Harita Nickel in Kawasi village. A speaker from the Health Office conveyed the efforts that need to be made to maintain the quality and safety of MSME products.

Encourage MSMEs to Level Up: Harita Nickel Hosts Entrepreneurship Training

"Harita Mengajar"&nbsp;program is once again held with the theme "Edugathering: Independence in Learning for Obi Children". By learning directly in nature as an <a href="https://tbpnickel.com/id/sustainability/human-rights/we-and-the-community/education-programs" target="_blank">educational</a> medium, it is hoped that children will have a fun learning experience.
A total of 150 students from SDN 217 Halmahera Selatan and MI Al-Habsyi in Kawasi Village participated in the event held in Salam Kawasi, Saturday (10/6/2023).
Salam Kawasi is an integrated agricultural learning center prepared by Harita Nickel for the communities around its operations on Obi Island. From crop cultivation to fisheries and livestock farming, everything is available here.

All participants are invited to get a closer look at fish farming, livestock rearing, greenhouses, and the composting facility managed by the company.
The children from Kawasi are also taken to witness firsthand the process of planting seeds and the production of compost made from organic waste and animal manure. Through this experiential learning activity, the company aims to create a more enjoyable learning environment for children.
Lusiana La Jame, one of the teachers representing SDN 217 Halmahera Selatan who was present to accompany her students, expressed her appreciation for the company.
"Of course, as teachers, we are greatly assisted by the program organized by Harita. Through this program, students are invited to learn and get acquainted with the environment through outdoor learning methods that are not boring," she said.
According to Lusi, learning activities like this are more effective for children because they are presented in an enjoyable way. Furthermore, she hopes that the company will regularly organize kind of&nbsp;activities like this in the future.

Meanwhile, Broto Suwarso, Community Development Manager of Harita Nickel, stated that this activity is an implementation of the Community Development and Empowerment (CDE) program in the field of education. Harita Mengajar itself is a routine program held by the Community Development department, involving students from schools located around the mining area of Obi Island.
"The purpose of this activity is to develop educational media that gichildren so that they don't feel confined to learning only in indoor settings, prioritizing experience-based learning," he said.
Furthermore, Broto also explained that in the future, this program will be scheduled for categorical groups. Not only elementary school children, but also other educational levels such as junior high school, high school, and even parents, according to their respective fields, whether it be social, economic, or others.
The Edugathering activity was also attended by the Environment department at Harita Nickel, which enlivened the event with a Harita Talk session discussing plastic waste. This is in line with the vision of World Environment Day, which was celebrated on June 5th with the theme "Beat Plastic Pollution."
Participants were invited to learn more about the types of waste. They also gained knowledge about the short-term and long-term impacts of indiscriminate waste disposal. In addition, participants were invited to sing together and participate in a prize quiz related to waste issues.

Edugathering, Harita Nickel Provides a Fun Learning Experience for Children in Obi

PT Trimegah Bangun Persada Tbk (NCKL) atau Harita Nickel menyalurkan bantuan hewan kurban sebanyak 31 ekor sapi dan 3 ekor kambing dalam rangka merayakan Idul Adha 1444 H / 2023 M. Sebagian besar dari hewan kurban tersebut diserahkan ke desa sekitar operasional perusahaan di Pulau Obi.
Head of Community Affairs Harita Nickel, Latif Supriadi said that distribution of sacrificial animals is routinely carried out every year as a manifestation of gratitude and concern for Harita Nickel to local communities around its operations.
He explained, the entire sacrificial animal donation had been distributed prior to Eid al-Adha 1444 H which falls on Thursday, June 29, 2023. To empower local communities' economy, he emphasized, sacrificial animals were purchased by the company from local breeders.
"Through this Eid al-Adha celebration, it is hoped that people especially around the company's operations can directly benefit from Harita Nickel's operations and strengthen ties between company and community," said Latif, Thursday (29/6/2023).

Harita Nickel's Community Relations Manager, Apolinavis F Mbata explained in more detail the distribution of sacrificial animals. From a total of 34 sacrificial animals, most of them were distributed to villages around Harita Nickel's operations in Obi Island. A total of 18 villages across three sub-districts in Obi Island, each received one cow.
"The sacrificial animals were handed over directly to Imams as Islamic religious leaders in each village, witnessed by local village government officials," he explained.
Meanwhile, 16 other sacrificial animals were distributed to several areas in North Maluku. Among them in Labuha, a capital city of South Halmahera Regency and Ternate City. Animal distribution was carried out by cooperating with a number of company partners, from government agencies, student organizations to media organizations.
Harita Nickel's concern for the community, especially in Obi Island, received appreciation from both government and local religious leaders.
Obi Sub-district Head, represented by Secretary Risno Tjia, in his speech on sacrificial animal ceremony in his area which was concentrated in Laiwui Village, expressed his gratitude to Harita Nickel. He encouraged that well established cooperation between company and community can continue to be improved.
"We thank you for the donation provided by Harita Nickel for all village communities in Obi Subdistrict. We hope this sacrificial animal donation can be useful for residents who are entitled to receive and need it," Risno said.
The same appreciation was also conveyed by the village government and religious leaders in South Obi Subdistrict. Gambaru Village Head, through Village Secretary Imanuel Sousa, said that sacrificial animal donation delivered by Harita Nickel is a manifestation of the company's concern for local people in Obi Island.
"On behalf of village government and the entire Gambaru village community, we support company operations. We hope that the company's presence will be able to support village government programs to improve people's welfare here," he said, agreed by Gambaru Village Imam, Guntur Flori.
As information, PT Trimegah Bangun Persada Tbk through its subsidiary PT Halmahera Persada Lygend (PT HPL) has officially operated a nickel sulfate plant and successfully conducted its first export on June 16, 2023. The plant that produces core material for making electric vehicle batteries is the first in Indonesia and the largest in the world.
In line with its business projections in supporting the Indonesian government's nickel downstreaming mandate, Harita Nickel continues to be committed to sustainable and responsible business governance practices by prioritizing environmental and social aspects.

Harita Nickel Distributes 34 Sacrificial Animals and Empower Local Breeders in Obi Island

Ramadan 1444 Hijriah safari hosted by Harita Nickel on 7 to 13 April 2023 was quite draining energy. However, outside of Kawasi Village which is directly adjacent to the company's operations, its crew visited 13 other villages spread across 3 sub-districts using sea transportation. 
Those three sub-districts include Obi, South Obi and East Obi. Personnel are divided into 3 groups that each depart from the Harita Nickel operational site in Kawasi Village, Obi District. In the map, Obi sub-district is located on the west side of Obi island. So, the Safari Ramadan route is from the west to the south and east of the island of Obi.

Each group overnighted in each village visited before continuing their journey to the next village. Activities held in each village included donations to orphans, distribution of Eid gifts to the elderly and closed with iftar together until before Isha prayer. As activities finished in the evening, they traveled to the next village by sea on the following day.
Sea trucks carrying the crew were full of cardboard boxes and sacks containing Eid gifts. Those who were fasting worked together to distribute the aid packages. On another occasion, the crew boarded a long boat under the scorching heat of the beach in broad daylight to continue their safari to another village. 
An interesting story was told by Abu Bakar Sani, Community Relation Superintendent of Harita Nickel. According to him, Ramadan Safari is a reflection of tolerance between religious communities. &nbsp;
"If it was conveyed that religious life in this village is very harmonious, as well as in our team. For example, Ms. Sheila, even though she is non-Muslim, she is the one who is the busiest in preparing this activity," he said during the Ramadan Safari activities in South Obi District.

Sheila Munthia Simamora was coordinating logistics distribution to South Obi Sub-District. Along with the rest of the crew, Sheila admitted that she was happy despite having to travel from one village to another for several days.
"The religion that I believe in also teaches us to always spread love to all humanity. So, this activity is not limited to professional demands, but also practicing the noble values taught by all religions," she said.

Previously, several figures appreciated the Ramadan Safari activities initiated by Harita Nickel in a number of villages on Obi Island. Apart from the government, appreciation was also expressed by religious leaders. Not only from Muslims, appreciation also came from other religious leaders.
Jei Tomas Siwabessy, pastor of Eben Haezer church in Wayaloar village, South Obi sub-district, said that breakfasting moments in a series of Ramadan safaris held by Harita Nickel became a means to strengthen relations between religious adherents.
"We are from the Eben Haezer church congregation, as well as Anugerah church, are very happy to be able to gather with our neighbors from Muslims and Muslims who are fasting Ramadan. We have to preserve this kind of harmony for our common livelihood," he said, when giving a speech at the Ramadan safari event in Wayaloar Village recently.
Separately, Ustad Ali Zainal Abidin in his Ramadan safari tausiyah at the An Nur Mosque in Kawasi Village, Obi Subdistrict, expressed the same thing. According to him, the company's assistance to orphans, the elderly and widows is very valuable, especially in the month of Ramadan.
"Different from gifts, assistance given to those who really need it is called alms. For those who receive, this assistance is very large in value," he explained.

Reportedly, Harita Nickel held a Ramadan 1444 Hijri safari to a number of villages on Obi Island on April 7 to 13, 2023. In this series of activities, the company distributed compensation to at least 520 orphans and 800 Eid gifts to the elderly, widows / widowers and religious leaders. 
Harita Nickel's Department Head of Community Affairs, Latif Supriadi said the Ramadan Safari activity is part of the Community Development and Empowerment (PPM) program that has been held regularly by the company every year. 
"Through this Ramadan Safari, we stay in touch and at the same time want to share happiness with the community, especially Muslims who are fasting Ramadan and will soon celebrate Eid al-Fitr," he explained.
In addition to Obi Island, Latif added, Harita Nickel collaborated with a number of agencies also distributed more than 3 thousand Eid packages in Ternate City and Labuha, North Maluku. 
"All of this is nothing but our commitment to always be together with the community, religious leaders and all other stakeholders to join hands to build the region and contribute to the nation," he said.

Ramadan Safari, Harita Nickel Shares Happiness in The Spirit of Tolerance

Harita Nickel continues to provide free medical check-ups and treatment to local residents in villages surrounding its mine. This event was held in Kawasi Village, located at SD Negeri 217 South Halmahera on Sunday (5/3/2023), presenting several medical specialists. 

 Harita Nickel's Community Development Superintendent, Panji Setyadi, said that the free medical check-up and treatment services are part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program in healthcare which has been routinely carried out by the company in several villages around the mine. 
According to him, this activity aims to improve the quality of residents' health and provide easier access for the community to a specialist doctor.
"In Kawasi itself, there is only a Village Maternity Clinic (Polindes) with a general practitioner. So in this activity, we brought in several specialists including pediatricians and internal medicine specialists to conduct examinations and treatment for residents who have medical problems," said Panji.
In addition, Panji hoped that this event could raise awareness of the importance of maintaining health, especially for children and the elderly who are at risk of suffering from internal diseases. 
He also revealed that in this event, Harita Nickel collaborated with the Health Office, Puskesmas, and Obi Regional Hospital, as well as Labuha Hospital. It is expected to create a harmonious synergy in providing health services to the community through partnerships with relevant stakeholders.
Meanwhile, Dr. Azhar K Hernus sp.A, a pediatrician invited by Harita Nickel exclusively in Kawasi Village explained, the majority of pediatric patients who came were found with respiratory problems and diarrhea. 
"If we look at the pattern of diseases in Halmahera, the majority of children we find with respiratory infections. Not even a few children suffer from Tuberculosis (TB) which is most likely triggered by transmission from their parents or neighbors," he explained.
Dr. Azhar also explained other than respiratory infections, diarrhea is the next health problem that is often suffered by children. This is often triggered by unhealthy lifestyles, such as poor sanitation.
On the other hand, internal medicine specialist, Dr. Raditia Reza Ramadoni, Sp.PD explained that most Kawasi residents over 40 years old suffer from diabetes, high blood pressure, and cholesterol problems. According to him, this is triggered by the habit of consuming unhealthy food and drinks. Such as excessive sugary drinks and oily food.
The free medical check-up and treatment service that has become a routine program of Harita Nickel received a warm welcome from the local community.
The Chairman of the Village Consultative Body (BPD) of Kawasi Village, Reinhar Siar, expressed his support for the company's initiative. He hopes that such programs can be maintained to ensure that the community has access to quality health services on an ongoing basis.

Harita Nickel Invites Specialist Doctors to Kawasi for Free Medical Treatment

Hundreds of Kawasi villagers, Obi sub-district, South Halmahera, came to the low-cost grocery bazaar held by Harita Nickel. They were excited to buy basic food packages prepared by a nickel mining and downstream company operating in their village.
 
As a result, as many as 600 food packages provided by Harita Nickel were completely purchased by residents in just a few hours after the bazaar opened, Friday (3/3/2023) morning.
 
Umi Siar, one of the residents at the bazaar location, said she was happy to have access to groceries at low prices. According to her, this bazaar activity is very helpful for the residents, considering that the current food prices are quite expensive.
 
"Alhamdulillah, with this bazaar, we are greatly benefited because we are able to obtain a complete set of groceries at low prices," said Umi.&nbsp;
 
Like other residents, Umi hopes that this program can be sustained so that people have easier access to basic necessities at affordable prices.&nbsp;
 
The program, which was initiated by Harita Nickel's Community Relations and Community Development, aims to alleviate the villagers' burden on the high price of food in the market today.&nbsp;
 
Andri Rudiarto, Community Relations Superintendent Harita Nickel, explained the grocery package contains 5 kg of rice, 5 packs of instant noodles, 1 kg of sugar, 1 kg of flour, 1 liter of cooking oil, and tea. It is said that the local people can get the complete basic food package for only Rp 50,000.&nbsp;
 
"This event aims to help Kawasi villagers fulfill their daily food needs," said Andri.
 
Furthermore, Andri explained that the current bazaar targeted residents of Kawasi Village who needed a cheap food supply. The bazaar was held at two points, on the north and south sides of Kawasi Village, with a total of 600 food packages.

Kawasi Residents Enthusiastically Welcome Harita Nickel's Low-Cost Grocery Bazaar

Harita Nickel's compassionate care for local communities around its mine has lifted the spirits of local residents. Among them is a woman in Kawasi Village who serves as a beach cleaner as well as being the backbone of her family. 
LIS KOTEN (40 years old) was picking up trash along the beach when Harita Nickel's Community Relations team visited her house in RT 2 Kawasi Village, Obi Subdistrict, South Halmahera. She ran hurriedly from the beach behind her house to welcome the guests who came that afternoon, on Saturday, April 3, 2023.
Rita, a company representative who came along with the head of BPD and RT of Kawasi village, immediately greeted the host. Once she had conveyed the purpose of her visit, Rita handed over a sack containing 25 kilograms of rice.
"Thank you; I owe a lot of gratitude to Harita," Lis said repeatedly, his eyes glazing over.
In the narrow wooden house, Lis lives with her four children. The youngest child is 6 years old. Her husband, meanwhile, has been sick and bedridden for the past few years.

"Thank you, the company, for giving me a job and rice," she said, wiping the sweat from her exhausted face. 
Indeed, since her husband could no longer work due to illness, Lis has become the backbone of her family. Lis is thankful that the company gave her a job as a cleaning worker around Kawasi Beach, together with other local women.
"I pray for Harita to keep growing and progressing so that it can further help the people here," she said sincerely, before the company's team departed to distribute aid to other residents.
 THE MOTHER of the Kawasi beach clean worker as well as the guardian of her family's economy was one of 70 residents who were beneficiaries of the Harita Peduli program held in Kawasi Village. 
A number of personnel from Harita Nickel's Community Relations team, accompanied by local village government officials, visited one by one the homes of residents who had been identified to hand over the donation.
Andri Rudiarto, Community Relation Superintendent Harita Nickel explained that Harita Peduli is part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program carried out routinely by the company in a number of villages around the mine. 
He said Harita Nickel's CSR program covers various fields. From economic, health, and education to sociocultural sectors. In this recent Harita Peduli activity, he explained, the company targeted underprivileged and elderly residents.

Happily, the various programs implemented by Harita Nickel received appreciation from the Kawasi Village government. 
Accompanied by the head of the local RT, Kawasi Village BPD Chairman Reinhar Siar said the company's programs and assistance have been beneficial to the people in his village.

Bukan lagi jadi hal yang tabu, jika perempuan memainkan peran penting dalam banyak aspek kehidupan. Salah satunya dalam pertumbuhan ekonomi. Bahkan di Indonesia pun, perempuan memiliki potensi besar untuk memperkuat roda perekonomian.
Pada tahun 2021 lalu misalnya, perempuan menyumbang nyaris setengah dari serapan lapangan pekerjaan. Hal ini didukung dengan data yang dikeluarkan oleh Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS), sebanyak 39,52% atau sekitar 51,79 juta penduduk dengan usia 15 tahun ke atas adalah perempuan. Data tersebut kemudian dilengkapi dengan sektor mana saja yang banyak menyerap tenaga kerja perempuan di antaranya: perdagangan (28,6%), pertanian (24,38%), tenaga produksi (20,51%), profesional (10,48%), pelaku usaha jasa (8,65%), serta pejabat (6,56%).

Perempuan yang berdaya tak hanya dapat membantu menggerakkan roda ekonomi bangsa, namun juga dapat membantu ketahanan keluarga. Karakter perempuan Indonesia yang dikenal telaten dan mandiri dapat dijadikan modal utama untuk terus menciptakan inovasi.

Hal itulah yang tengah dikembangkan di Pulau Obi, Halmahera Selatan, Maluku Utara, tempat perusahaan pertambangan dan hilirisasi nikel, Harita Nickel beroperasi. Memberdayakan perempuan agar dapat bersaing dengan tenaga kerja laki-laki tanpa mengalami diskriminasi, stigma, maupun stereotip.

Meski perekonomian provinsi yang berjuluk Moloku Kie Raha ini sempat menurun drastis pada pandemi 2020 lalu, namun kini perlahan mulai bangkit berkat aktivitas ekonominya yang cukup tinggi. Bahkan pada triwulan II 2022, perekonomian Maluku Utara menjadi yang tertinggi dibandingkan provinsi lain. Kemudian disusul oleh Papua di posisi kedua, dan Sulawesi Tengah di urutan ketiga.

Hal ini tak lepas dari peran perusahaan pertambangan dan hilirisasi nikel yang beroperasi di provinsi tersebut. Di mana nilai produksi komoditasnya terus meningkat diimbangi dengan nilai investasi yang terus masuk.

Harita Nickel sebagai salah satu perusahaan tambang nikel yang beroperasi di Pulau Obi, Halmahera Selatan, secara aktif mendukung pemberdayaan perempuan desa di sekitar area operasional. Melalui Program Pengembangan dan Pemberdayaan Masyarakat (PPM), Harita Nickel terus menggerakkan perempuan desa yang mayoritas adalah ibu rumah tangga untuk aktif dalam kegiatan ekonomi.

Salah satunya melalui program kelompok tani Akelamo Jaya yang merangkul perempuan Desa Kawasi untuk memaksimalkan potensi pertanian di sekitar tempat tinggal mereka. Berbagai macam buah dan sayuran telah berhasil mereka panen berkat pendampingan yang dilakukan oleh perusahaan. Diantaranya meliputi kangkung, sawi, oyong, kacang panjang, cabai, kubis, bayam, waluh, dan terung. Sedangkan untuk buah-buahan kelompok tani (poktan) Akelamo Jaya sudah berhasil membudidayakan semangka dan blewah.

“Dulu kami belum tahu cara yang paling baik untuk mengolah lahan. Bibit tanaman pun asal sebar saja. Sekarang kami diajari metode pertanian intensif sehingga hasilnya pun semakin bagus,” ujar Nur Ening Dahmad Talaga, pengurus Akelamo Jaya.

Langkah progresif yang dilakukan Harita Nickel melalui PPM tak terhenti sampai di situ. Demi meningkatkan nilai ekonomi dan produktivitas warga setempat, perusahaan tambang nikel ini juga turut membukakan pintu akses pasar yang lebih luas bagi poktan Akelamo Jaya. Di mana hasil panen yang mereka dapatkan nantinya dapat dijual ke perusahaan sebagai olahan kantin karyawan.

Selain pendampingan yang dilakukan oleh Harita, ternyata keberadaan perusahaan di Pulau Obi menjadi peluang tersendiri bagi warga lokal. Salah satunya dapat dilihat dari kemunculan Kelompok Usaha Bersama (KUB) Nur Annisa yang terdiri dari kelompok ibu-ibu majelis taklim Desa Kawasi.

Perjalanan mereka dimulai dari menjajakan takjil khas bulan Ramadhan. Siapa sangka langkah kecil yang mereka ambil membawanya pada perkembangan usaha yang berkelanjutan dari waktu ke waktu. KUB Nur Annisa kemudian berubah menjadi Koperasi Serba Usaha (KSU) Annisa Jaya dengan beranggotakan belasan ibu rumah tangga.

“Sejak memulai usaha, kami belum punya kemampuan secara finansial maupun keterampilan yang cukup. Namun alhamdulillah kami diberi solusi oleh pihak perusahaan&nbsp;

melalui tim Community Development Harita Nickel,” ujar Asmawati Jouronga, Ketua KSU Annisa Jaya.

Konsistensi kualitas produk yang ditunjukkan oleh KSU Annisa Jaya membuat mereka mendapatkan kepercayaan dari unit bisnis Harita Nickel, PT Trimegah Bangun Persada (TBP) dan Gane Permai Sentosa (GPS). Hingga akhirnya, usaha kecil yang diinisiasi ibu-ibu majelis taklim ini dapat berkembang dan beroperasi sebagai badan usaha atas nama MAMS. Di mana mereka tak lagi hanya menawarkan produk berupa makanan, namun juga berupa jasa housekeeping dan laundry untuk mess karyawan.

Perempuan Berdaya di Sektor Pertanian

Pada awal tahun 2022 lalu, Harita Nickel melalui Program Pengembangn dan Pemberdayaan Masyarakat (PPM) bersama dengan BUMDes dan kelompok tani (poktan) Desa Buton melakukan implementasi program pendampingan dan percontohan budidaya padi pada lahan seluas 3 hektare. Program PPM yang kemudian berjalan dan diberi nama Sentra Ketahanan Pangan Obi (SENTANI) tersebut memiliki latar belakang tujuan untuk meningkatkan produktivitas warga dan angka kemandirian pangan. Mengingat Pulau Obi masih memiliki angka kemandirian pangan yang rendah.

Program SENTANI digadang-gadang menjadi salah satu jawaban konkret dari perusahaan terhadap agenda nasional dan implementasi blueprint Maluku Utara 2022 khususnya dalam kegiatan usaha pertambangan.

Pendampingan yang dilakukan oleh perusahaan Harita Nickel pada kelompok tani perempuan Desa Buton tersebut berbuah manis pada Juli 2022 lalu kemudian dilakukanlah panen perdana. Hasilnya pun terbilang memuaskan yakni 4 kali lipat lebih banyak dari jumlah panen sebelum adanya pendampingan dari perusahaan.

“Potensi panennya mencapai 4,8 ton dalam satuan Gabah Kering Panen (GKP). Empat kali lipat lebih banyak sebelum dilakukan pendampingan,” kata Mahfud Lohor selaku Ketua BUMDes yang membantu pendampingan tani bersama Harita.

Meski jumlah tersebut masih berada di bawah standar GKP Nasional yakni 5,2 ton, namun capaian hasil panen petani Desa Buton sangat layak untuk diapresiasi. “Kami optimis hasil panen kelompok tani Desa Buton dapat mencapai 6 ton/hektar pada program perluasan lahan tanam berikutnya,” kata Broto Suwarso, Economic and Agriculture Superintendent Harita Nickel.

Lagi-lagi, perusahaan pertambang­an di Pulau Obi ini tak mau menyia-nyiakan hasil panen dari kegiatan pendampingan warga. Mayoritas hasil panen diserap oleh perusahaan untuk kebutuhan kantin karyawan.

Menjadi Perempuan Berdaya dan Mandiri di Pulau Obi

According to Riyadi Supriadi, manager of Comdev, this program has a direct impact on improving the people's economy. "Through this Takjil Festival program, we were able to generate an additional income of up to Rp. 17 million per group." Furthermore, there are many innovations and additions to the types of food sold at this festival," he said.

The Takjil Festival is more than just a culinary event. During this festival, the Comdev team also teaches residents about hygienic culinary preparation and basic marketing management. As a result, residents gain more experience running MSME businesses in the culinary field. This demonstrates Harita Nickel's dedication to achieving long-term empowerment.

According to Riyadi, the assistance is expected to increase residents' income through quality products. "The main challenge for traders is good and correct product packaging. "The way to overcome this is to socialize the relevant traders and assist them in performing packaging following predetermined standards," he explained.

Due to access restrictions caused by the pandemic, residents are unable to sell their products directly in the Obi Site area at this Takjil Festival. Residents in the village work with the Comdev team to create culinary products.
